Running a thinner oil for a short tripper?

It has been suggested that I switch to a thinner oil because this car does mostly short trips..(fuel dilution ect.). Anybody else running 5w20 ?

Oil pump location on an 02 R/T

Had the oil changed 3 months ago and was told I had an oil leak, though checking the dip stick weekly says I haven't lost any. After I've driven the car a bit I do notice a slight smell coming through the vents, did some looking around under the hood and found the following:

Valve cover bolts were loose

Firewall on the passengers side about 3/4 down..( several metal tubes connect to a central spot) have oil residue on them, it's the only oil wet spot I could find. Just wondering if the oil pump was any where near that area and if it could be giving off a slight spray. Also I have detected no oil drips when the car is left sitting.

Had the transmission flush the other day and didn't even think about whether there was a filter that may have needed changed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
