I started my car this morning, everything was fine till about half mile down the road. I was driving and it would just shut off/loss of complete power and engine would just cut out and turn back on in a fraction of a second and it did it about 6-7 times. I turned around drove it home and parked it. Checked connection under hood. The dash lights were still on when driving it so i know its not the ignition switch. We did have rain lastnight and its very humid. Wondering if this could be the distributor module going bad. I replace the plugs, wires, rotor and cap 3 months ago when i did the lifters. And the gas is good. Problem is i can't get it to do this problem anymore, it acted up and now is gone. Wondering if it might also be moisture in the cap.

I'm not sure if anyone has had this problem or could be of some help. But my 01 R/T 3.0L has a rattle coming near the crankshaft pulley. It sounds like a heat shield rattle or maybe a broken valvespring at first and it only happens after i let it sit overnight. I'll start it up and after about 30 seconds it goes away completely and doesn't happen the rest of the day even if i let it sit for 8 hours at work. It only happens in the mornings. Its not a tick or anything, its a rattle. The only thing i can think of is maybe its the oil pump or a bearing is going out. Any help or ideas would be awesome.

Just kinda curious and i know many factors come into play. But i have a 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T with a autostick. I'm wondering what kinda mileage people have got out of these transmissions before they take a shit. I'm at 160,000 miles right now with no serious issues (knock on wood). And since were on the topic what about headgaskets what mileage have those things gone up, i've never replaced mine yet either. Just trying to get everyones input to see if there's a pattern to when these items go up.

I've done a search for lifter replacement and nothing came up. I'm replacing the bad (ticking) lifter's on my 3.0L 01' stratus. I gotta put a new rear valve cover gasket on and since i'm back there i'm gonna replace the bad lifter(s). Has Anyone attemped this? Anyone know of any special tools? I believe i can just compress the valve spring and swap lifters but i wanna know if there is anything i'm missing.

OK, my alt. went out and spiked my system to around 21V and blew the headlights out. I replaced the alt. and the bulbs and everything seemed fine, then about a month down the road the headlights would start flashing above 2500rpm. So far they flash during a cold idle till it warms up then it goes away, above 2500rpm, at a stop light with the brakes applied you can see the headlight building a charge and the it discharges the load. I checked the alt at work (honda dealer sorry) and it came back fine. The one tech thought it might be a ELD(electronic load detector) So i checked with the dodge dealership and they never heard of it. The said something about a body control module. Either way i have state inspection coming up and i gotta fix this any ideas, i'm starting to run out time. And if this helps above 2500rpm the voltage output is around 15.5-16.0V when it spikes.
