Can't say b/c the coupes are different engines. We are all Mitsubishi(just like the eclipse) and you are dodge. Don't quote me on this but I believe you have a simaliar engine w/ the SRT-4. maybe someone can confirm.

I do know the older 1G strats had chystler 2.4L in them, and some of the 2G eclipses had them. Also the Avenger as well.

You should be able to direct swap a 2.4L engine from a 2001-2006 Stratus sedan or Sebring sedan/convertible.

You may also be able to use the 2.4L block from a 2001-2008 PT Cruiser.

and the 2.5l models had a mitsu... my old cirrus did.... and i had to replace it as well, damn drive belt snapped and wrapped around the crank and threw off the timing and boom, no more go.... i researhed and found you could swap up to a 3.0 motor from an elclipse in it or a chrysler 2.4...

if you got enough room, i would suggest the 3.0mitsu. just use the block though and interchange the oem parts from curretn engine to it to make it work properly. heads and manifold, etc....

The 3.0 Mitsu is not a direct fit in the 2G sedan.

The 2.4 in the Eclipse is not a direct fit for the 2G sedan.

For direct swap with no modifications, you can use the block from the 01-06 Stratus/Sebring sedans (NOT coupes) and the Sebring convertible as well as the Neon and PT Cruiser. Want to boost it??? You can direct swap the motor from the SRT4 or the turbo motor from the PT Cruiser, but you will have to acquire the ECU with the wiring harness.

Problem with that, is the turbo hits the firewall (according to a thread on the sphere') and it's easier to just build up the current 2.4, as there are plenty of parts for it.
