This is going to be a thread to chronicle the progress on my 2002 Stratus 4G64/5 speed. One question I have with regard to the rules - are posting progress pics of any mods done considered "how-to's" and as such, not allowed?

To start with, I got it tagged and titled in my name with the intent to drive it around and uncover problems that will be on a 150k mile chassis before I go to get it inspected. Immediately, I'm having problems with the battery terminals, ground and hot wires so it looks like I'll be doing the "big three" or "four" first. I'll be happy for it to start reliably every time though, and that will involve cleaning and/or replacing the terminals and connections. Right now I get a rapid clicking until I pop the hood and wrench on the terminals. Then it starts right up.

On top of that, I've got a low idle that I need to sort (no codes thrown though). I think I'll check most of the vacuum hoses with my trusty carb cleaner and listen for a change in engine speed.

The clutch is toast. Dropping the clutch in second (at speed) results in quite a bit of slipping, as does an upshift to 3rd when the engine is around 6k. It will roast a front tire with authority in first from a stop though (stupid drag-style take off - just to see, lol)

The suspension wallows a bit more than I'm used to. I'll be looking at Megans or D2s to replace the stock pieces, as well as suspension bushings - this isn't my DD and I don't plan on it to be. It still takes a couple of hard corners well, with predictable understeer if not driven smoothly. The brakes and wheels will be upgraded as I go - I don't want to add power without being able to stop quickly...Brembo's from an Evo look like a pretty decent upgrade on the C3G forums.

I haven't decided if this is going to be all-go/no-show, or some percentage of both. I do want to get the body cleaned up a good bit though - there are some parking lot dings and trim issues that need immediate attention, lol. The interior needs some attention too, but other than some audio upgrades, I'm leaving it alone for a while.

Long term - I'm thinking of building it up for turbo street/strip. Money will go fast though, so that's too far off for me to detail now.

Hello all. I got an '02 Stratus Coupe with a 4g64/5spd in a trade for a motorcycle that I no longer rode. I think I got a good deal and am happy with it overall.

I'm going to do some routine maintenance before I start driving it too much. Things like the timing belt, water pump, fluids, brakes and hoses need to be square before I feel comfortable with it.

It really needs to be detailed too, and that'll probably be first, lol!

Overall I'm happy with it and glad I found the site! I'll post pics when I get some.
