Just got word that Beckey (Burke) Henry - "stratusfied" here and "Stratusfied30" on Stratusphere - passed away 7/21/09.
I don't have all the details yet, but do want to offer my condolences to her and her family.

HOLY CRAP !! Please tell me this is a joke ! I had spoken to her years ago thru PM's, nothing personal, but she seemed very personable thru PM's. If this is true, we have lost a great assett to the community.
If or when you find out any details of what happened, please tell us

Not a joke, unfortunately.

She suffered from clinical depression for a long time, and from what I'm told she took her own life.

YOW!, that's just very unfortunate. I can kind of understand it, at one point all my illnesses pushed me to that point and I tried it as well, but fortunately for me was unsuccessful. I don't fully understand clinical depression entirely, but she seemed to have alot going for her that she could find relief in. I hope she was getting treatment, but it obviously wasn't enough. This is a sad loss for us as a community, but my heart goes out to her husband and family, they have a very long road of grief ahead of them and I wish them peace and comfort.
Beckey, I hope you were able to find the peace you so desperately sought, go learn to fly with the angels

Wow.... that is crazy... She didn't show it on the boards here when she got her strat as a gift from her hubby. That is sad. I thought this might of been a joke or something.

What's kinda creepy is that her mySpace status changed on Tuesday...a week after she passed.

http://www.beckeysgems.com - she was working on starting this online business.
http://www.modelmayhem.com/564307 - she was also trying to break into the plus-size modeling world.

Still hasn't really sunk in yet.

Madness. What news to share Jim, how unfortunate to have to post that. I visited Becky and Naoi some time back when they were down in San Antonio, we all went out and played pool and had some food. Only good times to remember with her.

OMG. I haven't been here in months, had a little time to kill and just thought I would peek in and see what was happening. Then I find this. So sad. Me & her chatted a few times on Myspace but mostly through here. Sad news and she will be missed.

I just don't understand the desire to take ones life. My life has sucked in certain ways more than most but I don't give up. It drives me to be better. I know she had her demons that she dealt with but seriously, to take ones life because of them?

Sometimes I just cannot understand the human psyche when it's misfiring.

I don't understand why some people have to be douchebags and treat people in such a way to force that desire upon someone in the first place.

Well then I'm definitely out of the loop. If that's the case, the individual in question should be charged for man slaughter at the least.

Yeah good luck with that. My father-in-law paid big bucks for a lawyer to do just that, and even with a boatload of AIM conversations as evidence, they said unless the other person handled the materials that led to the death, there's no case.

But in Alaska, it's an obscure law that if you cause emotional distress which leads to a suicide, you can be held accountable. But it happened in PA. I should see if it makes a difference if he was living in AK at the time it all started, and if she can be charged in this state.

If it was tried in federal court (Supreme Court), then the ruling sets the precedence for the entire U.S., if it was tried in a court at the state, county, parish, or city level, the precedence only applies in that jurisdiction.

Ok....but in order for it to go to court there needs to be a case. To get a case to the Supreme Court would require a ton of lawyer fees, IF the lawyer even thought they could make a case strong enough to prosecute and be worth their time.

I'm not arguing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I'm using personal experience in a question raised specifically pertinent to the subject at hand.
