> Eclipse GT Spoiler
Posted by lngbrding29 - 07-23-08 13:14 - 14 comments
As you are aware, the 3G Eclipse parts for sale thread came to fruition because of the GT spoiler that I found in a salvage yard last week. Before I paint and install it. I was wondering about color combos or would the general consensus be to color match it silver. What I'm thinking of doing at this time is matching the paint on the spoiler to the metallic gunmetal color that is on the eclipse fuel door that I'll be putting on as well. I used to have the tinted tails but because of a cheap clear coat on them, it chipped in a few places so I stripped them. Instead of retinting them and the reflector bar, I was thinking of doing the metallic gunmetal paint job like Liz did on hers. I know, I hate to just copy... but you have to admit, sexy is damned sexy.

So, here's a photo of now. I'm trying to imagine the spoiler and possible colors for it and the tails. What's your opinions? (And no, the fart can stays. It's my trade mark in here now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )

> How I Wasted $54
Posted by Spectre - 07-22-08 19:53 - 15 comments
An essay by Spectre.

I bought an eBay CAI knowing full well that it does nothing for adding power. After receiving it and looking at the piss poor packing job I realized there were no directions. No big deal I figured. After all, this is my 3rd intake on 3 different cars only the first having directions. Disassembly of the factory piping was simple and took a matter of minutes. The problems all began as soon as I tried to get the MAS adapter to fit. Had to carefully pry off this piece:

After "modding" the MAS it was getting dark so I left it as short ram for the night. Started it up to test out and was quiet except for an odd dog whistle sounding noise at certian RPM's under certain loads. No big deal, I thought to myself. When I finish installing the lower half I'll tighten all the clamps.

Well today I struggled to add the lower pipe which was a bitch because the mounting fork would not match up with the hole for the rubber mount. Well after fighting to get it to line up I found that the pipe doesn't sit flush with said MAS which resulted in this bulge in the rubber that will concern me more as it ages:

(IMG:http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/dvenge/P1110562.jpg)

Finally fully assembled (and I hope correctly given the left over parts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ) I took it for a drive and the suction sound from the filter is uber loud. it's defenaetly not a leak as it is coming directly from the cheap, see-thru filter. Still has that annoying whistle at times and sounds different from stock only under load or at high RPM which I don't like to subject my car to very often. I think I may notice a slight increase in throttle response but that's it.

Waste of my time and money, tho it does look decent. At least for now.

> NOPI cancels remainder of season

QUOTE
July 16, 2008

It is with great regret that NOPI Motorsports, LLC has suspended operations for the summer and fall 2008. This will include NOPI Drag Racing Series, NOPI Drift Series and the NOPI NATIONALS Motorsports Supershow. The company is undergoing an organizational restructuring in light of severe adverse affects of a disappointing spring season. The economy and unfavorable weather resulted in underperformance of all spring events. Michael Meyers, president of NOPI Motorsports, reports that NOPI Motorsports is working with its clients and sponsors to minimize the uncertainty going forward. This is a reflection of the economic times in which we currently live. The countrywide economic and industry downturn has caused a slowdown and tightening of belts. This affects everyone and companies, at all levels, and NOPI Motorsports is no different.

We understand the position this puts everyone in and we hope you can find in your heart to work with us through this terrible time. All of you are our friends and we have felt for many years that we were all a big family.

NOPI Motorsports hates this more than anyone as the many years of hard work, tradition and an industry we helped to shape would come to this.

Please watch nopi.com for future announcements.

What's up ya'll? I have not posted in a while, but it doesn't mean I'm not here. There was a thread started last week about a spoiler on Craigslist that made me search a little bit for one locally here in East Central FL. I didn't find one so I posted in the "wanted" section that I was looking for one. I got a call the next moring from the owner of a salvage yard about 30 miles north of me in Cocoa that he had two and wanted $100 plus tax for each.

I went up there today and we only found one... However, there are 4 3G Eclipses there that have a lot of the interior pieces that some of you might need. None or them have an engine, sorry. The seats are not in good shape in most of them because of broken windows. There is ONE 2.5G ('04) Strat there but it's wrecked pretty good and I didn't see anything worth taking a photo of. It has the factory wing on the back but it's split a little bit on the passenger side, perhaps repairable by someone with autobody skills.

I made a deal with the owner before I left that instead of purchasing the wing outright, I was going to barter with him. I'm trading a '96 Acura TL that's been sitting wrecked in my driveway for 6 months for the wing and whatever other parts I wanted to come rape out of these 3G's for you guys. I'f you'll let me know what you want, I can find out what's available and grab it as part of the barter if I can. I'll take specific photos of the things I get out of them once I get them back here with and we can make deals from there. Maybe, this can be moved to the "for sale" section at that time???

The only kicker to the situation right now is that my grandson was born over in Tampa this week (I just got back from there last night) and is undergoing heart surgery tomorrow. So, I'm heading back out in the morning. Depending on how the surgery goes is what determines when I'll be back. Hopfully this weekend though. His name is Landyn and was born Monday morning just before noon. He wieghed 8 lbs 9 oz. The condition that he was born with is called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, in which the whole left side of his heart does not and never will work. The team of cardiovascular surgens will have to build him an aorta out of donor tissue and reroute all the "plumming". So the whole experience...labor, delivery, and everything to do with the baby...is much different than normal. But he is in the best hands in the world right now with the doctor that actually invented the procedure. We are hoping and praying for the best.

Anyway, here are some photos from the junk yard this afternoon. Tell me what you need and I'll see what I can do. Remember, with all the traveling back and forth between this side of the state and the other... I'm not going to be able to answer as quickly as you might like. Patience young grasshopper. I'm proabably using one of the compass pods (without compass), one of the center bezels, and the 3G wing.
